A Perfect Weekend!

By Ohio Elite Staff, 01/11/21, 11:45AM EST

Senior Girls ECNL Teams (2002/03, 2004, & 2005)  finish with a perfect 9-0-0 record in the ECNL National Event in Sanford, FL.

Sanford, FL. - Winning just one game in an ECNL National Event is something to be proud of.  The ECNL is comprised of the top youth teams in the country. Each ECNL National Event brings several of these teams together onto one platform for a weekend of intense competition.   The teams play 3 games over a span of 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), a format that tests the talent, skill, and depth of the very best the nation has to offer.  As a result, points can be extremely difficult to tally.

To say that the 2020-2021 season has been a year like none that we have ever experienced is an understatement.  Yet, our Senior Girls ECNL teams have embraced the circumstances and traveled to Florida with the confidence of an overall record of 21-7-4.  But a National Event is a different stage and challenges even the best of the best.  Our girls rose to the challenge and finished the weekend standing tall.

By the time the sun had set on three days of  fiercely contested games involving 134 clubs, only ONE club came away with a perfect 9-0-0 record...OHIO ELITE SOCCER ACADEMY!

The 2002/03s finished the weekend at 3-0-0 with wins over Florida Elite ECNL, Orlando City ECNL, and Minnesota Thunder ECNL.  The girls outscored their opponents by a margin of 11-1.

The 2004s finished the weekend at 3-0-0 with wins over FC Wisconsin ECNL, NCFC Fusion ECNL, and Scorpions Soccer ECNL.  The girls outscored their opponents by a margin of 10-1.

The 2005s finished the weekend at 3-0-0 with wins over Eclipse Select ECNL, Kansas City Athletics ECNL, and Heat FC ECNL.  The girls outscored their opponents by a margin of 12-4.

All told, the three teams finished 9-0-0 and outscored their opponents by a margin of 33-6.

"It's a credit to our kids and what they've done.  They've been really great, the effort has been really great.  It's more of an anomaly than the norm, winning every game.  It's really hard to come to an event in this league with three teams and win every game.  But I'm really proud of the kids."
-Doug Bracken, Girls Director of Coaching

The girls will enjoy some recovery time before preparing for the Ohio Elite College Showcase on February 19-21.
