With a brother and a sister that are now part of the #OESAlumni, Collin, is making his mark on a different part of the field. The 2000 Boys ECNL goalkeeper hopes to continue his play in college and someday serve for us all.
Ohio Elite recently sat down with the Mason High School junior to find out what this defender of the net is all about.

When did you begin with Ohio Elite?
I joined when I was a U10
Why did you choose Ohio Elite?
I chose Ohio Elite because I was aware that Ohio Elite produced high level players that went on to play at a higher level and that was something I wanted to do.
How did you become a goalkeeper?
There was no specific moment I wanted to become a goalkeeper, but the more I was in net the more I fell in love with it and wanted to play it. It got to a point when I was about 12 where the only thing I wanted to play was Goalkeeper.
Favorite part about being a GK?
I like the added pressure that the position brings. Field players can make mistake after mistake and usually it is fine, but if a goalkeeper makes one mistake, that could be the difference between a win and loss. I also thought it was pretty awesome to be the crazy kid on the field throwing their body in front of everything.
Best moment on a soccer field with Ohio Elite?
Best moment was beating CUP last year 2-0. It was a fun game and we usually don't get to play our city rivals so it was a special game.
Best moment for Mason was playing Princeton, we were only up 2-1 at the time and they had an indirect free kick two yards away from the goal line. This was the first time I was ever in that situation. I lined everyone up on the goal line and put a player behind me and told him right when the Princeton player touches the ball I'm diving straight at it so fill my spot. And I did just that and saved the shot.
What are you hoping to do after Ohio Elite?
After Ohio Elite I want to continue my athletic and academic career in college. After that I want to serve in the military and then be a high school teacher after.
What do you do other than school and soccer?
When I'm not playing soccer, I am usually outside fishing or weightlifting. I also work at Morgans Canoe Livery.
Best part of Ohio Elite.
The best part of Ohio Elite is the relationships with the players and coaches. The coaches when you had when you were 12 and 13 still care about you and will continue to help you grow until you are out of college. Every year I see former OE players come back from college and the coaches will let them train with teams and I think that is very special.
Any advice for young, up and coming OE GKs?
Listen to what your Coaches say, even if you think a drill isn't worth doing, do it and do it to the best of you abilities. Develop your own goalkeeping style. Find what works for you and master those skills. And lastly, don't be afraid, and be aggressive.
